Just south of its border with the United States is Mexico’s wine-growing region, Valle de Guadalupe, on the Baja Peninsula. Now, thanks to the vision of Gracia Studio, raised cube structures dot the hillside, among huge boulders and vineyards. The nearly two dozen wood-and-steel boxes serve as the rooms of Endémico Resguardo Silvestre, a hotel operated by Grupo Habita and designed to offer something akin to “luxury camping.” To minimize their impact on the natural landscape, the high-end cabins are raised off the ground, and their Corten steel and wood will weather over time to blend in with their background. This minimalist “camping” has all the great views and nature experience without having (or, getting) to sleep on the ground.
