Story at a glance:

  • Infinity Drain’s architectural drainage solutions are marked by customizability, quality, and aesthetic appeal.
  • The goal is to marry different approaches to drainage and waterproofing with the aesthetic possibilities of architectural design.
  • The range of offerings can be customized for use in showers, sinks, pools, roof drainage, and driveway drains across residential, commercial, and hospitality developments.

It’s physics: Water flows downward. It’s also building science: Moisture causes damage, so it ought to have an escape route. Infinity Drain would argue that the fundamental properties of water can be treated with an architectural eye and have the potential to integrate in a design for a beautiful and functional outcome.

“A drain is a civil product and a utilitarian product. It’s not nice to have—it’s a must-have. By thinking about it architecturally we’ve refined it,” says Jonathan Brill, CEO and founder of Infinity Drain.

Since 2008 the company has embarked on a mission to elevate the human experience through architectural drainage solutions marked by customizability, quality, and aesthetic appeal.

“The idea is that you don’t think about it. It’s just there and it works. We evolve by marrying the aesthetic element with the science of how it fits with the installation,” Brill says.

Infinity Drain’s range of nearly invisible offerings can be utilized in showers, sinks, pools, roof drainage, driveway drains—anywhere water has the opportunity to accumulate.

The challenge, Brill says, is working with experts across two or three trades where waterproofing and drainage come together. For a shower’s linear drain, for example, the company works with framers, plumbers, and tile setters to ensure the product is installed perfectly flush, wall to wall.

“It’s like planning a wedding. Everybody has their non-negotiables once you’re sitting at a table for a large project. Our thing is we can say yes and be customizable. If there are two different types of waterproofing, the plumber’s mechanical way and the tiler’s bonded way, we have systems that can do both—a belt-and-suspenders kind of thing.”

Infinity Drain works in dozens of applications across industries. Let’s take a look at a few examples:

1. Customizable Drainage Solutions

Infinity Drain’s products are made of 90% recycled stainless steel and can be recycled if its time in a space comes to an end. But the material’s sustainable practicality doesn’t take away from the company’s ability to offer stylish personalization, with custom sizing, installation, and color options well within their wheelhouse.

Working with developers, architects, and mechanical representatives all at once allows Infinity Drain to translate the needs of the project into an integrated solution. Then, with Infinity Drain’s Site Sizable installation, the product can be cut to fit and assembled onsite.

Infinity Drain’s tailor-made options include modern lines like the new, sleek Disco-rectangle Linear Drain, and custom colors that pop—like Barbie Pink—to fit specialized design needs both practical and simply aesthetic.

2. Elevating Hotel Showers and Spas

Infinity Drain’s most frequent partners are luxury commercial real estate and hospitality developments.

In high-end projects like the Four Seasons Minneapolis, custom drainage solutions contribute to units’ elegant appearance while also facilitating the hotel’s efficient water management and accessibility with smart waterproofing solutions and perfectly flush drains.

3. Residential Bathrooms: Merging Style and Utility

“Our product is luxury,” Brill says.

Infinity Drain’s residential bathroom drainage solutions allow for extreme aesthetic flexibility. Take the Hollywood Crescent House by designer Elisa Baran Tréan of Elisa Baran, for example, where a specific design vision was executed with the disappearing lines of Infinity Drain’s Tile Insert Frame linear drains. “We continue to work on this theory of making the drain go away, making it disappear while being as maintenance-free as possible,” Brill says.

One way the company aims to reduce the pains of upkeep is with their hair maintenance kits, which use a cylindrical hair basket to help keep drains clog-free. Brill also hints at research being done toward a new, integrated system to make tackling hair maintenance-free.

4. Health Care and Wellness Centers

While it’s not yet their most frequent application, Brill says the most exciting area for Infinity Drain to grow is the health care industry. “We see the silver wave hitting. There’s a big need for barrier-free bathrooms and universal design.”

Infinity Drain’s solutions like stainless steel shower bases offer accessibility compliance but also advanced hygiene, cleanability, and slip resistance. As much as the products aim to last a lifetime, they also aim to serve humans throughout their lives by easing the challenges that come with age and changes in health.

5. Outdoor Pool and Patio Solutions

Outside the home Infinity Drain’s products can be utilized to prevent water pooling, enhance safety, and maintain a clean look in outdoor spaces. Bridge House, a residence that literally bridges a stream, incorporates Infinity Drain’s Wedge Wire linear drain system not only in the bathrooms, but also in the outdoor kitchen/patio area to reflect the clean and innovative style of the rest of the house.

State-of-the-art spaces like Clemson University’s football operations facility utilize Infinity Drain to enhance the occupant experience.
