ICC Evaluation Service (ICC-ES) has received approval from the California State Fire Marshal to conduct inspection and labeling on listed products for use in a Wildland Urban Interface Fire area. Such approval is a requirement under section 703A.3 of the California Building Code (CBC) as well as section R337.3.3 of the California Residential Code.

The Office of the State Fire Marshal’s (OSFM) Building Materials Listing Program includes many materials such as roof coverings, fire resistive wall and ceiling-floor assemblies, wall finish materials, fire and non-fire related hardware, insulating products, fire doors, fire dampers, and electrical appliances and devices.

ICC-ES will conduct evaluation in accordance with section 703A.4 of the CBC: “Material and material assemblies tested in accordance with the requirements of section 703A shall bear an identification label showing the fire test results.”

ICC-ES offers the SFM labeling service to new and existing clients via a Listing Report or Evaluation Report supplement.

If you have any questions or are interested in obtaining SFM labelling for your building product, please contact es@icc-es.org or call the ICC-ES office at (800) 423-6587.
