ICC Evaluation Service (ICC-ES) has issued the first listing report to ASTM D3679, specification for rigid poly (vinyl chloride) (PVC) siding, to CertainTeed. ASTM D3679 is referenced in the National Building Code of Canada (NBCC) 2020, which provides general product and installation requirements for polymeric cladding.

CertainTeed provides exterior and interior building products, including roofing, siding, fence, decking, railing, trim, insulation, gypsum, and ceilings. CertainTeed’s vinyl sidings and soffits were evaluated based on testing in accordance with ASTM D3679-17 and conform to the NBCC 2020 section 9.27.12.1 for vinyl siding, insulated vinyl siding, and vinyl soffits.

ICC-ES is one of the few qualified evaluation entities accredited by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) to evaluate building products to the National Building Code of Canada (NBC). As a result, all Canadian provinces and territories accept ICC-ES Canadian listing reports.

“ICC-ES can issue listings to numerous standards mentioned in the National Building Code of Canada. ASTM D3679, referenced currently in the 2020 NBCC, is also a referenced standard in ICC-ES acceptance criteria for vinyl siding, AC37. Thus, if current ICC-ES report holders to AC37 want to obtain an ASTM D3679 listing for the Canadian market, the process will be simple,” said Danny Wong, ICC-ES senior staff engineer. “We look forward to supporting our clients who look to expand their products into the Canadian marketplace.”

Obtaining a Canadian listing report with ICC-ES helps manufacturers get their products to market quickly by providing assurance their products are code and standard compliant for Canadian builders. All building and plumbing products are included in ICC-ES’s scope of accreditation with the Standards Council of Canada (SCC).
