During this year’s Ecobuild, the gb&d team had an amazing stay at the Lancaster London, chosen not just for its great location and proximity to transportation, but also because of its commitment to creating a more sustainable world. This was noticeable from the reusable glass and plastics to the recycling bins all over the hotel.
We learned about their most recent endeavor to implement eco-friendly bottled water into guest rooms. The hotel previously used in excess of 50,000 plastic bottles per year, but now, all still or sparkling water is packaged in reusable bottles and is filtered on site using a sophisticated, seven-stage process.
For the hotel, the cost of savings made by waste reductions has reached £11,000 per year to date.
Although guests may never see them, another exciting feature is the collection of beehives on the roof. The hotel also hosts the London Honey Show.
With all their environmental efforts and accolades, like the Green Tourism for Business Scheme 2012, the Lancaster London left a lasting impression on us. From the great service to the quality of the rooms, the team thoroughly enjoyed its stay and would recommend it to travelers looking to reduce their environmental footprint.
