More than 15,000 people attended this year’s AIA Conference on Architecture in San Francisco, with more than 70 countries represented in addition to the US.
Attendees explored more than 100 new exhibitors and over 500 brands at this year’s events. We loved products across interiors, openings, and exteriors this year.
Here are some of the highlights.
Armstrong World Industries FeltWorks Blades – VarAffix Panels
Armstrong World Industries revealed its exciting new corporate branding at this year’s AIA, emphasizing experience above all. The brand update celebrates the elevated role ceilings have today as an integral part of modern spaces.
FeltWorks Blades – VarAffix Panels were among Armstrong’s newest and most exciting offerings this year. The reinforced rectangular blades come in 16 standard sizes and 12 new standard neutral colors.
The FeltWorks Blades — VarAffix panels are made from 60% pre-consumer recycled PET fibers. They create a soft visual with quieting acoustics and provide sound absorption of up to 0.85 NRC, depending on blade depth and spacing.
Construction Specialties Acrovyn Doors
Construction Specialties launched its new Acrovyn Curved Door—a design that meets hospitals’ need to save space and maintain critical patient sight lines.
Acrovyn Doors can also contribute to LEED credits and are made using optional FSC-certified wood cores. They also include recycled content and undergo VOC emission tests.
The new doors are available in dozens of color and pattern options, and they’re easy to clean and bacterial- and fungal-resistant.
Clopay Corporation VertiStack Clear Door
Clopay Corporation’s new VertiStack Clear Door is an innovative compact door with vertically stacking sections—engineered to provide a clear, open ceiling and modern design in commercial and hospitality projects.
The new door maximizes ceiling space while providing clear aesthetics. Save room for mechanical, electrical, or plumbing fixtures without taking away from your aesthetic.
The VertiStack Clear has no hinges or exposed tracks and operates smoothly and quietly. It’s also been tested to ASTM E283 standards and meets the International Energy Conservation Code requirements for air infiltration.
Maibec Dizal
Maibec Industries showed off its Dizal Collection as well as its new CanExel engineered siding capabilities across large beautiful projects at this year’s AIA Conference on Architecture. The Dizal aluminum cladding collection includes woodgrain, stone, steel, and solid color looks and is perfect for distinctive residential projects as well as hospitality and commercial endeavors.
Designers can also choose from many CanExel two-tone and solid colors inspired by nature and with an authentic wood grain look. Maibec CanExel engineered siding is made with the company’s exclusive premium thermoset paint. They apply multiple coats of the industrial paint and cure it at very high temperatures to ensure the ultimate resistance against fading, cracking, splitting, and peeling.
Otis Gen3 Elevator
Otis recently unveiled its new Gen3 Elevator—a fully connected elevator.
Designed for North America’s growing two-to-six story building segment, Gen3 is built off the proven design and flat-belt technology of Otis’ Gen2 family of elevators—providing smooth, quiet rides, safety, durability, and energy-efficiency.
The Gen3 Core is equipped with the Otis ON IoT platform and a suite of connected products like Otis eView in-cab screens and customer options for Application Programming Interface integration into tenant apps and other smart building systems. The platform also has special features like cab air purifiers and UVC lights.
GKD Acoustic Mesh Panels
GKD unveiled its new mesh acoustic panels at this year’s AIA expo. The lightweight, aluminum composite mesh can be used for ceilings and wall coverings alike to offer beautiful and dramatic noise reduction properties in large spaces.
A gathering room at the Museum of the Bible designed by SmithGroup in Washington, D.C. has more than 8,000 square feet of GKD Acoustic Mesh Panels.
Dekton Pietra Kode
Cosentino Group introduced a new high-performance, ultra-compact stone collection called Dekton Pietra Kode—the vision of renowned designer and architect Daniel Germani.
Pietra Kode puts a beautiful spin on three classic Italian stones—Vicenza, Travertine, and Ceppo di Gré. The carbon-neutral Dekton surface also allows the collection to be used in a virtually any indoor and outdoor application.
